Vaccum Circuit Breakers (VCB)

VD4 Medium Voltage Vaccum Circuit Breaker

• Vacuum circuit breaker for safe and reliable electrical power distribution or generation in your application up to 46 kV, 4000 A, 63 kA.
• Maximize output and productivity with devices that support the continuous operation of your processes, e.g. three times higher mechanical endurance than the standard.
• Protect assets with safe and reliable devices, e.g. generator circuit-breaker type tested to the new global dual logo standard (IEC/IEEE 62271-37-013).
• Optimize investments with compact devices and high performance, e.g. 17.5 kV/50 kA circuit breaker with 210 mm pole distance.

Ring Main Units (RMU)

SafeRing / SafePlus 36 Gas Insulated Medium Voltage Switchgear

• ABB’s gas-insulated switchgear portfolio for secondary distribution includes the SafeRing ring main unit (RMU) switchgear designed for all indoor and outdoor applications including high altitudes (higher than 1500 m above sea level) and harsh weather conditions. It is fully compliant with IEC standards.
• SafeRing RMU is a compact standardized solution available in 18 different pre-defined configurations and suitable for most secondary switching applications within the range of 6kV to 40.5kV. SafeRing offers a choice of standard pre-defined configurations combining switch-fuses, line load break switches and circuit-breakers. The standard RMU configurations can be extendable upon request. A typical configuration includes the RMU with standard variants up to 5 modules (12-24kV) or 4 modules (36kV).

Numerical Relays

Protection Relays

• Numerical relays are based on the use of microprocessors. The first numerical relays were released in 1985. A big difference between conventional electromechanical and static relays is how the relays are wired. Electromechanical and static relays have fixed wiring and the setting is manual. Numeric relays, on the other hand, are programmable relays where the characteristics and behavior can be programmed. Most numerical relays are also multifunctional.

• Scope:
   - Modern protection relays
   - Multifunctional protection

• Product benefits
   - Provide continuity of power to consuments
   - Protection of network assets
   - Protection against life-threatening electrical incidents

• Product features
   - Self-checking facility
   - Low burden relays improve accuracy
   - Fast fiber optical communication with substation LAN
   - Adaptive relaying schemes
   - Permit storage of historical data
   - Time stamping
